Leveraged Buyout Explained

A leveraged buyout, or LBO, is an acquisition of a company or division of another company financed with significant amount of debt. Later, the acquired company's profits are used for the repayment of the loans. This acquisition method became very popular in the U.S. in the 1980's when easy financing was available through innovative securities like junk bonds.
